Robinsons Land (RLC) is partnering with the Bacolod City Government to improve public spaces, strengthen tourism, and create opportunities for local communities.
The partnership will be the first local initiative under "Hand in Hand for Progress," the company's community development platform, which brings together RLC closer to local government, businesses, institutions, and communities who contribute to the progress of the places they share. Invoking the spirit of bayanihan, the Filipino tradition of communities working together toward a shared goal, this partnership also builds on RLC's longstanding presence in the city through Robinsons Bacolod, which opened in 1997, Cybergate Bacolod, and Go Hotels Plus Bacolod, reflecting the company's continued commitment to growing alongside the city.
Recognizing that public spaces, mobility, tourism, and livelihoods are closely connected, this partnership will consider how improvements in one area can create wider benefits across the city. Projects will focus on the places where residents and visitors move through and gather, with greener public spaces, better-designed transport stops, and clearer wayfinding that make it safer and easier to get around Bacolod and reach its heritage sites, food destinations, and local businesses.
These improvements will provide support to Creative Bacolod, the city government's platform for connecting Bacolod's heritage, food, culture, and artisanal communities through tourism. Complementing these noble projects are community-focused programs developed with the local barangays, including training tour bus and taxi drivers to communicate with visitors clearly and warmly, as well as inviting senior citizens to serve as local guides and share their knowledge of Bacolod's history and culture. The goal is to make it easier for visitors to discover more of Bacolod while supporting the local businesses and cultural workers that contribute to the city's distinct character.
Beyond tourism, the partnership will also create opportunities for residents to learn, earn, and contribute to the city's growth. Planned initiatives include a job fair, livelihood programs, support for green entrepreneurship, environmental education, and school-led socio-civic activities that encourage the next generation to help care for their city.
