To kick off the holiday celebrations in anticipation of the Christmas season, Robinsons Malls recently hosted the opening of the Giant Lantern Caravan 2017 by lighting the replica of San Fernando, Pampanga’s Giant Lantern at Robinsons Magnolia. Standing 10 ft. tall, the Giant Lantern was a head-turner as it displayed colorful dazzling lights dancing to the tune of different Christmas songs. Present during the lighting of the Giant Lantern are (L-R) Mylene Del Rosario, Regional Operations Manager; Virgilio “Gil” Cortez, Giant Lantern Festival Committee Chairman; Sonia Soto, CLTV36 President; Arlene Magtibay, General Manager for Commercial Centers Division; and Ching Pangilinan, City Tourism Officer of City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The Christmas season is just around the corner and Filipinos just love decorating their homes with colorful, lively, bright and definitely twinkling Christmas lanterns or locally known as “parols”. In time for Christmas, the Giant Lantern Caravan 2017 also opened a lantern bazaar where mall-goers can buy Pampanga’s well-known Christmas lanterns at a very affordable price. San Fernando’s lanterns or “Parul Sampernandu” in Kapampangan are renowned for its brilliant colors, and flashing kaleidoscopic patterns made by the intricate hands of Kapampangans. Known as the “Christmas Capital of the Philippines”, San Fernando’s lanterns are the perfect ornaments to brighten anyone’s home as it was built through the hardwork, creativity and teamwork of the Kapampangans that is molded by history and culture. The Giant Lantern Caravan 2017 will continue to brighten Robinsons Malls as it visits Robinsons Place Antipolo on November 3 to 5 and at Robinsons Galleria on November 10 to 12.
