Bacolaodiat, a portmanteau of the words Bacolod and Lao Diat which means celebration in Fukien, is Bacolod’s very own Chinese New Year Festival celebrated last January 27-29, 2017. The Bacolaodiat featured activities such as the Lantern Street Dance Competition, ceremonial lighting of Chinese lanterns and Dazzling Grand Parade, spearheaded by Bacolod’s Chinese community and government officials led by Mayor Evelio ‘Bing’ Leonardia, to welcome the Year of the Fire Rooster. In line with this year’s Chinese zodiac sign, Robinsons Homes paraded the official float dressed in a fiery Rooster facade, hanging Chinese lanterns, and gold coins designed with Chinese characters, which translates to the festival’s motto: “Hundreds of Families Celebrating.” Boarding the float were elementary and high school students hailing from Bacolod Tay Tung High School in costumes representing Bacolod’s Chinese community. The float was highlighted with the auspicious color, yellow that symbolizes power, royalty and prosperity in Chinese culture. It is also the same color as Robinsons Home’s sub-brand Brighton that holds true to its slogan Brighter Days Ahead. In keeping with the festivities, Robinsons Homes held the Brighton Bacolod Investors’ Day at Robinsons Place Bacolod where clients and prospective buyers were given a special preview of Robinsons Homes newest project in the province, Brighton Bacolod. Brighton Bacolod, located in Brgy. Estefania, is a 22.4-hectare Contemporary Mediterranean enclave showcasing lifestyle amenities such as parks and play areas for bonding, leisure pool for unwinding, and a village clubhouse perfect for big family gatherings.
