Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) bags two awards at the recent 15th Philippine Quill Awards. Robinsons Starmills Pampanga won for “The Mall is Powered by the Sun” campaign under the category of corporate social responsibility while Robinsons Galleria Cebu won an award for its Festival of Trees event under the category of Non-Profit Campaign. Present to receive the award were (from left to right) Eunice Gonzalez, Marketing Communications Director; Floramie Vega, Regional Operations Manager - Cebu; Irving Wu, Operations Director for Luzon; and Jodee Arroyo, Regional Operations Manager - Pampanga In May 2016, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) built the world’s largest solar powered facility in a mall and its largest solar rooftop project in Robinsons Starmills Pampanga. The solar rooftop panels has a capacity of 2,883.2 kilowatts or 3.13 Million kilowatt hour of power in a year which will translate to the elimination of the emission of 1,881 tons of carbon dioxide, the amount of which will require 48,081 trees to absorb in a year. RLC has once again proven its commitment to help protect the environment from the adverse effects of carbon emissions with the Robinsons Starmills solar project. To date, RLC has a total of 10 malls with solar facilities with 16 more solar-powered malls pipeline. The Festival of Trees was conceptualized in 2015 when it was first launched as a Christmas initiative of Robinsons Galleria Cebu. The objective was to invite various organizations to display their own creatively designed trees supported with a write up about their advocacy and beneficiaries for the awareness of the public. During the second year of the event (December 2016), Robinsons Galleria Cebu team wanted to make the Festival of Trees a bigger event that would create more impact and awareness for partners and their beneficiaries. Leveraging on the power of social media, Festival of Trees became a unique holiday tradition that created an impact in the local community by generating awareness for its partner charitable organizations and their advocacies.
