Christmas is truly about love, sharing and merriment at Robinsons Malls! Aside from the towering Christmas trees, glistening lights, and dazzling decor, Robinsons marked the beginning of the holiday season by giving hope and joy to the Cancer Ward of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH). Through the Gift of Change (TGOC), a coin bank donation campaign which aims to generate funds to support its existing beneficiaries all over the Philippines, a very special and meaningful program was held at Robinsons Place Manila dedicated to 70 young cancer patients and their parents from the Cancer Institute of PGH. The children enjoyed a day brimming with fun and excitement as they participated in a series of educational and fun activities. To start off the event, Santa Claus and his elves together with 2 mascots gave out an early Christmas presents to the beneficiaries as they welcomed them with open arms. Several activities were also lined up to get the children in a joyous mood. For one, Daiso organized an origami session led by Teacher Blanca where the children learned how to make different animals made from paper such as dogs, hearts and rabbits. Afterwards, visual artist and painter, Anina Rubio, taught the kids how to draw and paint a Christmas parol. The activity was made extra special as they wrote their heartfelt wishes on their artworks. Finally, the children listened to a heartwarming story about family narrated by Ms. Marian Siquijor together with The Voice Kids’ Grand Champion, Lyca Gairanod, and The Voice Kids’ Finalist, Noel Comia, during the interactive storytelling session. After all the exciting activities, the children and their parents sat down for a delicious meal. The menu was specially personalized to cater to the needs of the children. The magic of Christmas for the beneficiaries does not end there for the giant Christmas tree finally lit up bringing holiday cheers to everyone. Stylishly adorned in larger-than-life snowflakes, glittery Christmas balls, and elaborate arrangements in champagne gold and silver, the 40-foot-tall Christmas tree sparkled and shined throughout the night. At the center of it all are life-sized children carolers holding musical instruments, imbibing a cheerful holiday spirit. The lighting of the giant Christmas Tree was graced by ¬¬¬¬¬(L-R) Kapamilya singer and actor, Matteo Guidicelli; Irving Wu, RLC’s Operations Director for Luzon; Ditas Taleon, VP for Lease; Hon. Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Mayor of Manila City; Hon. Maria Sheilah Lacuna-Pangan, Vice-Mayor of Manila City; and Mark Louie Sta. Ana, Regional Operations Manager. The spirit of gift giving continues with the turn-over of medical supplies to the Philippine General Hospital. Receiving on behalf of the institution was Dr. Aimee Elaine Ausa, Chief Fellow Pediatrics Hematology and Oncology. Present during the turn-over were (L-R) Matteo Guidicelli; Ditas Taleon; Roseann Villegas, Director for Corporate Public Relations; Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah Lacuna-Pangan; and Mark Louie Sta. Ana. As the event nears its end, a slew of musical performances from Kapamilya stars capped off the celebration much to the excitement of the beneficiaries and the mall-goers. The Voice Kids’ finalist, Noel Comia, rocked the night as he performed his version of “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” while The Voice Kids’ Grand Champion, Lyca Gairanod, showed her singing prowess as she performed for the crowd. Kapamilya heartthrob, Matteo Guidicelli, also joined in the celebration as he serenaded the audience with sweet and romantic songs. The Christmas celebration at Robinsons Place Manila sure created lasting memories for the children and their parents but the event was made more successful thanks to the generous donations from Chic Centre, Cebu Pacific and Universal Robina and for the conscious effort and support of Daiso, Ms. Anina Rubio and Ms. Marian Siquijor. There is something for the kids and kids-at-heart in this year’s Christmas celebration. Experience a very Merry Christmas as you celebrate the holidays with your family at Robinsons Malls.
