The province of Batangas was recently struck by a magnitude 5.5 earthquake which caused the province to be placed under a state of calamity. Aftershocks soon followed damaging several houses and key structures including the Batangas Provincial Capitol building. One of the towns that was heavily struck was Tingloy, located along the coasts of Batangas. In an effort to help the residents, particularly those residing in the municipality of Tingloy which is located just off the southwest coast of the Batangas mainland, Robinsons Malls through The Gift of Change, Holcim Philippines and other donors, donated several sacks of cement and other construction materials so that its residents may be able to restore their homes that somehow were damaged by the quake. This noble undertaking was made possible through the collaboration between Abs Cbn’s TV Patrol Caravan, Robinsons Malls, and Robinsons Place Lipa the where disaster preparedness and livelihood trainings were held. Emergency kits were likewise distributed to all the attendees as well as to the residents of Tingloy, Batangas. The Gift of Change program is part of Robinsons Malls' corporate social responsibility program focused on Community Development, Health and Wellness programs for the less fortunate Filipino. Its’ current projects include The Gift of Sight, Libreng Bakuna, Bike for Change, & Relief Operations.
